TURQUOISE - 2010 Pantone Color of the Year
Pantone LLC, the global authority on color and color standards for the design industries, has selected PANTONE® 15-5519 Turquoise as the color of the year for 2010.
"Turquoise transports us to an exciting, tropical paradise while offering a sense of protection and healing in stressful times." (Pantone)
The color combines the soothing qualities of blue with the invigorating aspects of green. The color of real turquoise mineral/stone varies from white to a powder blue to a sky blue, and from a blue-green to a yellowish green. The blue is attributed to idiochromatic copper while the green may be the result of either iron impurities (replacing aluminium) or dehydration.
Turquoise works well with a variety of looks including Southwestern, Tribal, and Tropical.
Turquoise complements all colors by adding a dash of excitement to neutrals (tans, grays, beige) and browns, complementing reds (think red coral) and pinks, createing a classic maritime look with deep blues, livening up greens. It can be especially trendy paired with yellow-greens.
I have lots of Turquoise colored items in my shop, as well as real Turquoise jewelry and pendants - so take a look!
