Lotus Flower Pendants

The lotus flower (padma) is one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols in Buddhism. With roots in the mud, the heavily scented flower grows up through the murky water into the sunlight. This signifies the progress of the soul from the primeval mud of materialism, through the waters of experience, and into the bright sunshine of enlightenment.

White Lotus represents the state of spiritual perfection and total mental purity (bodhi) and is generally associated with the White Tara.

Red Lotus signifies the original nature and purity of the heart. It is the lotus of love, compassion, passion of the heart and the flower of Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion.

Blue Lotus is a symbol of the victory of the spirit over the senses, and signifies the wisdom of knowledge. This is the preferred flower of Manjushri, the bodhisattva of wisdom.

Pink Lotus is the supreme lotus, generally reserved for Buddha.
